Things I’m aspiring to do.
Perú List:
Things I have to pull off while living in Perú. Some are because a can, others because I want, and a few are because I must.
- Work in a Spanish Speaking youth group
- Buy a really cool hat
- Machu Picchu
- Visit Lake Titicaca (it’s a must)
- Learn to make Tamales
- Learn to teach English as a foreign language
- Visit Cusco
- Eat something that scares me (mondonguito = intestines)
- Figure out my way around the Mercado
- Be the contact for someone else’s short-term missions trip
- Make friends who don’t speak English (Olga, Miss Maribel, Miss Beatriz, Mister Javier, Roberto Carlos, Paula, Gabriel, Mitzy, Pastor Miguel, etc.)
- Get out of bed when my alarm goes off (5:30 or earlier) for a month
- Learn a Peruvian folk dance
- Write a book
- Learn to play guitar
- Become fluent in Spanish
- Read a novel in Spanish
- Get past culture shock
- Learn to be (more) patient : This lesson, I’ve learned, is neverending
- Amazon
- Meet a tribe
- Love KIDS by being their TEACHER
- Stick it out
- Learn to take things poco a poco (better)
- Learn to make Anticuchos
- Arequipa
- Backpack around South America
- Be able to watch and understand an episode of icarly in Spanish
- Get TESOL certified
- Drive the Panamericana (?!?!?!)
Things to do when I get home list:
- Start that community house
- NEVER TAKE TREES, OCEANS, or MOUNTAINS for granted again!
- Speak Spanish, often.
- Hang out with my brothers.
- Seminary
- Credential
- Read Infinite Jest and everything else I can by David Foster Wallace
